The Heilig-Geist-Spitalkirche in Füssen is an especially beautiful place of worship with it's impressively colorful rococo facade that gets lots of attention from visitors.

The church, which was constructed in 1748/49 by the hand of the architect Franz Karl Fischer, is one of the most noticeable building in Füssen. It lies directly next to the Lech-bridge, on the corner of the Lechhalde / Spitalgasse. The artfully painted rococo facade shows the holy trinity and next to the entrance the holy figures of Florian and Christopherus can be found. The inner decoration of the church is a real feast for the eyes. Impressive baroque frescoes and altar paintings which feature the continuing theme of the church patron, the holy ghost, can be viewed here. The holy Johannes Nepomuk is also depicted here. He is the patron saint of the rafters, which, was an important craft in Füssen at the time the church was built.

The Heilig-Geist-Spitalkirche should be on everybodies sightseeing list. One should set aside 30 minutes at least to be able to fully appreciate  all the artful details of the church. The entrance is free, but the parish is always happy about donations. The church is open every day from 8:30 to 18:00.
